Who is responsible?

2009.11.07

It's possible that these images hurt the sensibility of some of you. If this is your case, I apologize althought that shows your humanity. Humanity that need the owners of these animals who seem to be interested only in benefit from them using them up to the limit their forces.

The donkey of these images has a chain in the neck that hangs up to his hoofs, so it gets entangled in his legs when he try to walk. This poor animal is constantly being beating by the flies. I saw how, in his desperation, he was throwing himself into the ground and was rolling over, in a fruitless attempt for taking off the small predators.

In the other pictures, we can see a mare and her colt tied with ropes to a trailer that was parked to the sloping edge of a road. You can see how the rope with which is tied the colt, don't allow him make almost any move, nor sit down, nor change position... nothing at all. I can say the same about the mare's rope.

I don't understand that this is allowed, that nothing is done against the owners who treat this way their animals. I don't understand this disrespectful for life.

These photos are taken in any village of Ourense, Spain. Unfortunately, this is not an isolated incident and in many village of my country we can see situations like these.

lookagain Such a sad situation. The photos of the flies on the donkey's face are almost unbearable. So hard to understand how this could be allowed to happen.....

SADHYA It is horrible to see how human beings can be so totally insensitive to animals' suffering. It makes me very angry, but it also makes me feel helpless that I can do nothing.

onlyricky aw Lys!

tedbarlow Lys. This is appalling, I have seen a lot of this kind of abuse before and used to be involved in animal rescue activism. I haven't seen images like this for some time now. Yes, who is responsible? We all are and if the owners don't take responsibility then the animals should be taken from them, this takes a lot of organising but is possible...You are right to put these images here and keep these issues in the public domaine

Kozuka Awful! Defective, the owner, a weak law, that such cases occur.
Stricter laws and tougher penalties. And purposeful education to the children, to love and protect animals and nature.
Good thinking and morals of the fund.

miltonjacob so sad to see and hear such bad situations. hope somebody will take the responsibility in respective places to end such cruelty

Lynda Is there an animal protection organisation that you can report the owners to and send them your photos and then something can be done to help these poor animals.
Lynda · 2009-11-08: 07:20
Katlover I hope you will report them, its atrocious!!!
Katlover · 2009-11-08: 12:59
NellyBly It makes me mad that people are so unfeeling toward animals, probably just as unfeeling toward one another!! If it's so common it wouldn't help to call the humane society (have one>) and report them. If don't have one, maybe someone will start one..they make these people pay or jail for abuse of animals..God will punish them for treating His creatures this way. Sorry, I got carried away.
